Looking for a new show to binge? You're in luck, Taylor Sheridan's highly anticipated Paramount+ series 'Tulsa King' places Sylvester Stallone in his dream mob role with a unique setting — Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Bringing another taste of Hollywood to T-Town, Sylvester Stallone stars as Dwight “The General” Manfredi, a New York mafia capo that was just released from prison after serving a 25-year stint behind bars. After being exiled by his former boss, he has to set down roots in a place that’s completely different than he’s used to — and with some unlikely characters.
Will he be able to find his way in this fictionalised version of Tulsa and build an empire with a new crew? That’s the excitement to come with 'Tulsa King.'
Where was 'Tulsa King' filmed? Stallone and crew filmed several scenes on location right here in Tulsa, not surprising since T-Town is a "Top 5 Small City to Live and Work as a Moviemaker." Check out these 'Tulsa King' filming locations and don't forget to do your best Sly pose for any selfies.
South Boston Avenue in the Deco District is not only one of the most scenic streets in Tulsa, but it’s also the perfect spot for an epic mafia showdown.
Recreate Stallone's establishing 'Tulsa King' shot in the middle of the street with the Art Deco Boston Avenue Methodist Church in the background. Then, go grab some grub from one of the neighborhood restaurants like Elote, Roppongi, Local Bison or Topeca Coffee.
Keeping it true to Tulsa, 'Tulsa King' filmed Manfredi's entrance at Tulsa International Airport. On the north side of town, TUL offers nonstop flights to places like LaGuardia and Washington D.C. with security lines so short you don't have time to pull out your ID.
Just getting in, or catching a flight out of town? Give yourself time to sit down for a burger and a local brew at Fat Guy’s Burger Bar. Driving by for funsies? Snag a pic with the "IMAGINE" mural by local artist Carmen Taylor. Then, check out nearby attractions like the Tulsa Air and Space Museum, Tulsa Zoo or James Beard Award-nominated restaurant Evelyn's.
Another unique filming location you might’ve caught Sly Stallone and crew at is the Center of the Universe. An intriguing stone circle located in the Tulsa Arts District, tourists and residents alike find it fascinating.
If you sing or shout from the circle, the sound will echo back to you even louder. Some have even said you can’t hear outside noise from the center of the circle. When on Boston Avenue, it’s definitely an interesting spot to visit.
Right down the road from the Center of the Universe is the Mayo Hotel. A perfect setting for a television series, the elegance of the hotel can be seen from the inside out.
Whether you’re there to stay in a luxurious suite, start your evening with a cocktail at the Penthouse Rooftop Bar, attend an event in the glamorous Crystal Ballroom or grab a delicious coffee the morning after in the modern, brick-lined coffee shop, the Mayo is a must-see.
One of Tulsa’s most popular coffee spots, it’s no wonder why people were confused when they temporarily closed their doors. Much to residents’ surprise, they got to see Sylvester Stallone in the flesh filming for “Tulsa King” inside Triangle Coffee, which certainly is something you don’t get to see every day!
Now that they’re back open, they’re excited to serve the community with their people-first philosophy. But of course, they also have delicious coffee and bakery treats. And even better, they’ll have an awesome story to tell — getting to witness “Tulsa King” being created firsthand!
